Ali is an urban planner and communication strategist who builds connections among communities and project teams. She is Karp Strategies’ lead project manager for analysis and stakeholder engagement work across the region.

Alexandra (Ali) Sutherland-Brown is a Principal at Karp Strategies. Trained as an urban planner, she combines rigorous analytics with clear communication in order to produce contextual results and compelling narratives for clients. Ali leads the firm’s economic development practice, and has helped to grow the firm in scale and services since joining as the first employee in 2016. Prior to Karp Strategies, Ali worked in the Executive Office at the NYC Department of City Planning and as a Program Coordinator at the Institute for Urban Design (now the Urban Design Forum). She holds a Bachelor’s in History and American Studies from Princeton and a Master’s in City Planning from MIT, and is a proud graduate of Coro Leadership New York. After moving to the U.S. from Canada, Ali lived in six cities in under a decade, and now resides in Brooklyn, NY.
