Project Management

An SIEDC signature project is the proposed Staten Island Skyway, an urban reclamation project to create a public park on the abandoned North Shore railway. SIEDC anticipates that this project will have a profound economic impact on the surrounding neighborhoods, help generate new investment into the retail corridor on Port Richmond Avenue, and spark reuse of historic buildings. In addition, the Skyway will reactivate a centrally located residential corridor which presently has an active Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) and will provide residents access to the waterfront. Karp Strategies was tasked with conducting a community planning analysis to better understand the area immediately surrounding the Skyway. The firm also designed and led qualitative research, including conducting stakeholder interviews and targeted hands on workshops in partnership with local organizations workshops designed to share information about the Skyway and gather community feedback. The firm's deliverables provided SIEDC with guidance regarding the baseline conditions that will inform their long-term plan to reactivate the Skyway.
